Nine Southwest Washington Schools Receive State Honors
Nine schools in the Educational Service District 112 region have been named 2011 Schools of Distinction for their success in student achievement.
The awards are based on improvement on standardized tests over the preceding five years. A school must be at or above the state median for the grade band on a "Reading/Math Level Index."
Statewide, awards were presented to 99 schools. The 2011 ESD 112 regional winners:
- River HomeLink and HomeLink Battle Ground; Battle Ground School District (two-time winners)
- Kalama Jr/Sr High, Kalama School District
- Naselle Grays River Valley Jr/Sr High School; Naselle-Grays River Valley School District (three-time winner)
- Toutle Lake High School; Toutle Lake School District (three-time winner)
- Trout Lake Elementary and Trout Lake High School; Trout Lake School District
- Dwight D Eisenhower Elementary, Vancouver School District (two-time winner)
- Cape Horn Skye Elementary, Washougal School District (two-time winner)
The awards are presented annually by the Center for Educational Effectiveness, Association of Educational Service Districts, Association of Washington School Principals, Phi Delta Kappa-Washington Chapter, Washington Association of School Administrators, Washington State ASCD and the Washington State School Directors' Association. All of the regional winners will be formally recognized during a ceremony in January at ESD 112.
